Default Whitelist / Blacklist: under conf/spamassassin or in amavisd.conf.in?

Hi!

Reading the documentation Improving Anti-spam system - Zimbra :: Wiki (some revision in discussion salocal.cf vs. local.cf); it seems that there are 2 ways to put whitelist or blacklist: in SpamAssassin's configuration under conf/spamassassin directory or as Perl hash in Amavis configuration file (amavisd.conf.in).

What is the differences, advantage and disadvantages of each method?

Thank you!

My thought, using SpamAssassin's configuration under conf/spamassassin directory better in upgrade (will survive upgrade), while using Amavis configuration file is more flexible (the list can be generated by a script). Any other thought?

Nope, except I don't see why the conf/spamassassin entry could not also be scripted. I suppose it might be a little more involved; is that what you're getting at? Whereas using the amavis configuration file, you can probably just point to a file containing a list of ip addresses.

Thanks Elliot for the clarification and Arif for raising that .. I understand both spamassasin and amavis share the work of whitelisting/blacklisting and content checking.
