since upgrade cannot open files with a + (plus sign) in the name

since upgrading to 6.0.8_GA_2661.UBUNTU10_64 from 5.0.18, users cannot access files with a + (plus sign) in filename in shared briefcases unless user is owner of the file.

these same files/names were not a problem in previous version.

all else works fine (users can access all other files in the same shared briefcase, etc).

any ideas on resolution other than changing filenames?

also i get the typical error msg:
HTTP ERROR 404

Problem accessing /service/home/[etc] Reason:

no such item

but i know its due to the "+" b/c i changed the filename & uploaded it, & users can access it.
