Question OAuth, useful for single sign-on?

Hi everyone
Really quick question.

This bug... Bug 45781 – Add support for OAuth
Will this OAuth support allow me to have our Apache/PHP/MySQL intranet server authenticate against our Zimbra server?
So our users can use their Zimbra credentials to login?

Or is this OAuth support for external applications to access data within Zimbra accounts?

At the moment I maintain a separate ht_passwd file for our intranet but it's only for 20 users so it's not a problem. But it would be great for our users to just use the same credentials.

I realise that there is currently a way to sort of do this, with Zimbra using LDAP support in Apache and preauth. But from what I've read it seems like a bit of a faff to get going.

Cheers, B

OAuth support allows a user to authorize external applications to access user's Zimbra mailbox data, in a secure manner.

Ok thanks for letting me know.

Thought I might be able to sign in to other resources by using our Zimbra server as a sort of OpenID provider, but with OAuth.
