SSL and secure logins

Hi,

Quick question, I am using the KMail client on my local Linux machine for my pop3 and smtp connections to Zimbra 5.0.2 so I can set up and so a client of mine can also manage email using MS Outlook to connect with his Zimbra account when he wishes.

If I choose SSL as an encryption method for secure mail download in KMail for both POP3 and SMTP outgoing, will this also encrypt the username and password upon POP3 and SMTP logins, even if I choose "Clear Text" and "Plain" as authentication methods for POP3 and SMTP?
