Unhappy Admin Console - User's View Grouping

Hi Techs,

I am running a test ZCS NE server (b4 going for the real migration). We have around 1000 users to create on this machine. As it is displaying the entire accounts in a single flat list, while clicking the "Accounts" tab on the left pane. It will be really difficult to work with large list.

So we would like to know, is there any way for grouping this users as Department wise or Mail box server wise, etc.

Any comments is really appreciated.

Well, I'm running the FOSS version of Zimbra on a single server, so maybe this changes with NE and/or multiple servers, but I am not aware of any way to group users in the Admin console. You do, however, have simple and advanced searching at your disposal.

I had tried searching almost everywhere! but didnt got any info. Even i didnt got any info saying that it is not possible. In Zimbra vs Exchange video they are saying that they have large as 25,000,000 users implementation.

But i wonder how we can easily manage even atleast 1000 users without grouping the users. It will be really hard to go through it just listing the entire users in a single display or in a flat display.

Thats why i am thinking there will be some way around Zimbra, in grouping the users view.

Expecting some comments from the Zimbra Team...

I was referring to searching within the Admin Console. If you need to make a change on a certain account you should be able to find the account using the search functions, without having to scroll the entire list.

Maybe you can explain in a little more detail about what you are trying to do with the groups.

Also, I'm running the FOSS version and you are looking at NE, so there very well could be additional administrative functions that I am not aware of.

I do agree with searching and doing the action on it. But i was thinking it will be nice to have a display like in a departmental ways of grouping... like...

IT Department
user1
user2
user3
Account Department
user4
user5
Sales Department
user6
user7
user8
user9

like this i mean...

as ZImbra is using openLDAP, i was thinking of a way to create OU's (OU=IT, OU=Sales, etc) and put the users in those sub categories...
