Question Zimbra Server Backup Planning

hello,
I am planning 4 backup zimbra server

i am taking weekly bkup of /opt/zimbra (all Containts by tar)

is it ok that .. if my server goes down then just install the same version on other machine and then just replace the /opt/zimbra

will it work??

What I suggest you do is read the Backup & Restore articles in the wiki and search the forums as there are several threads that have good backup & restore scripts in them. Try some of them and pick one that you're comfortable with and you should try a disaster recovery of your current system, do it as many times as it takes to get it right - the time to test a backup is before you need it not when a disaster strikes.

When you say backup by tar do you mean bring zimbra service down and then tar /opt/zimbra and then start service ? If you dont bring the setrvice down db will not be consistent and backup is of no use.
