Default Missing card view in address books?

Hi all

Recently asked a question about the business card view for the address book... it seems it is now missing. Been a while since I checked but someone just asked how to apply it and I notice it has vanished...

Can't see a reference to its removal so wondered if it is an omission or is it now hidden somewhere for some reason? What have I missed?

Am I slower and ill-informed these days? Perhaps!

K

No one notice or care about this? Oh well, might file a bug and see if that helps.

Nope, not a word! You haven't found the missing view have you? All I got was referred to old information Zimbra - How To for Zimbra Web Client 6.0

which is out of date by some way!

I didn't post a bug yet, wondered if I was going mad and missing something!

You're not going crazy. I can't find it either. Even the users guide for verison 6 shows how to do it, but those options aren't available anymore.

That's a bummer. Outlook users get used to card view. Odd that a feature would be dropped when it's so common.

It's obviously not missed that much, it's been gone for long time.

OK, if it's gone it's gone. Seems odd to remove functionality even if trivial with such limited user feedback. I never saw a clamour from users for the view to be removed.

One of those cultural quirks of OSS vs FOSS I guess.

Is there anywhere that specifically draws attention and lists outgoing features or functionality? It might help to determine if something is used or helpful more than just does anyone complain when we do. This view thing is the sort of superficial function that can make a difference to someone who wants it that will be unheard but just contribute to a feeling of 'doesn't fit'.

Suggesting it is in bugzilla wouldnt really help as very few end users visit it or drive it as it is all a bit fussy for that level of user interaction. If we had a top 10 things being dropped in Zimbra version 'the next' or similar then it might help get a feel for those users needs or use.

Just to get a feeling for it, do you need the same kind of groundswell to remove features as needed to add some? If not which way should it be biased?

Maybe it's not missed that much, or maybe users just choose not to complain. If I had to skills I'd create a zimlet for card view. I will just keep searching periodically in hopes that someone creates a card view zimlet.

I do agree with kevindods. How about a list of features being removed in the new releases? I say this without first looking at the release notes on v7. I'll go search those and see if I can find any features being removed.
