Default Ignore local mailboxes when sending mail

ok I have a very strange setup, so just to save confusion the real grain of my question is that I need to know if there is any way to ignore local mailboxes?

I have messages that are going directly to local alias's, I do not want that to happen..any help is GREATLY APPRECIATED~

You can change the zimbraMailTransport property for the user. For example,

Code:
zmprov ma user@domain.com zimbraMailTransport smtp:host.domain.com:25

Default ignore local mailboxes

I tried the code to change the smtp server..that never worked unfortunately..the thing is if the account is @zimbra.test.com It travels fine to the outside "@test.com"..If I create an alias @test.com on the server then any message sent from zimbra goes straight to the local alias...
I am super new to this whole thing and am running out of ideas ...

I suppose my question would be, what are you trying to achieve by have one local mailbox and one remote mailbox with the same name?

well we want out primary server to keep handling all spam and virus filtering before it hits the zimbra server. Heres whats going on...
original setup was client would have an alias of say johnsmith@hisdomain.com which went to the mailbox jsmith@mycompany.com on our server.
Now we are implementing Zimbra as a secondary, creating the domain zimbra.hisdomain.com and forwarding to that address from our first server...(confused yet? ) everything orks fine except the mail was showing the zimbra.hisdomain.com extension if anyone sent from the Zimbra server...soo we created the alias as mentioned earlier on the zimbra server...now anything to the alias automatically goes to the local box...I need it to go to our main server first...

I tried changing the SMTP host..to no avail, as well as configuring for a split domain...since I have nill knowledge of Zimbra or Unix I am at an empass..

If you have another mail server in the domain you want to look at the Split Domain article in the wiki (wiki link at the top of this page), that should tell you everything you need. What problems did you encounter when you tried that?

Tried that, setting Zimbra as the secondary...did not work..I think I know why but am not sure..
In order to hide the @zimbra.clientdomain.com from showing when mail was sent..we created the domain "clientdomain" so we have alias user@clientdomain.com..thus creating a local account and from what I understand you cannot send local accounts through a relay smtp...everything worked until we created the alias(local account/domain)
maybe I am missing something? or I am just trying to do the impossible..

Why did you not create a domain on the Zimbra server with the same name as your other domain?
