Default [SOLVED] Auto populate addresses using directory server

I know this could be done in older versions of zimbra in the admin console. Haven't been able to figure it out in latest version. Basically, just like you would in thunderbird, set up the directory server information and when you start addressing an email it will auto populate from ldap.

Thanks for your help

Are you trying to do this in 6.x or version 7 beta?

If you're refering to autocompleting adressess when composing an email message the answer is YES. You just need to configure (usually at COS level) the ability for users to have access to the GAL and to auto-complete from it.

Also, the users' preferences need to be set to "Include addresses in the Global Address List" or from shared address books if need be.

6.x

I understand they can autocomplete from address is GAL but we want to pull from ldap as most of the users are not in GAL. EX. In thunderbird you can set up directory server properties and point to server and baseDN to do the same thing as GAL but want to pull the addresses fro a different directory server. We are switching back to zimbra after a few years and I know this was possible in older version.

Thanks

Right, you can sync your GAL to an external LDAP.
