Default Contact & Calendar sync - Outlook 2007 & iphone OS4

Hi

We've recently migrated to Zimbra and after problems setting up and getting Outlook Connector to run seamlessly for all users we've gone for the simple IMAP set up which is now fully synced for mail and running well across outlook, iphone & webmail.

All users run Outlook 2007, iphone OS4 & 6.0 Advanced Zimbra Web Client. Is there any way to incorporate a Calendar & Contacts sync in our IMAP set up WITHOUT using Outlook Connector?

Thanks in advance

Hi again,

Any ideas here? Or is using iTunes to sync outlook and iPhone Calendar/Contacts as good as we can do? (and forget about a webmail sync)

Thanks

iphone os4 - Did you try to set up zimbra as an exchange server? iphone settings allow for email, contact, and calendar push settings.

Hi, thanks for this reply.

No, haven't tried setting up Zimbra as an exchange server. Am guessing we would need to set it up on Outlook as an exchange server also? Both currently set up as IMAP.

Would be v grateful if you could post a link to exchange set up info for Outlook and iphone.

Thanks again.

There is no 'Exchange set-up' as such, the answer is to use the Outlook Connector, if you have problem with using it then post a question in the ZCO forum (or search to see if the problem has already been covered).

Ok, thanks Bill.

So unless we use the Outlook Connector there is no way to sync contacts & calendar (as well as mail) across outlook, iphone & webmail client?

We ran into issues with Outlook Connector originally as we operate remotely alot of the time, sometimes on connections with poor internet speed. We were running into real problems using Connector in these kinds of environments with regular Outlook hangs/crashes so are reluctant to go down the connector route again.

Would appreciate any gudiance on alternatives.

Thanks

If you use the Open Source Version use z-push (Active Sync) for iPhone4 sync/push or CalDAV for Calendar and CardDAV (iOS4) for Addresses and IMAP for Mail.
Browse the WIKI for howto.
The Network Version syncs iphone out of the box as Exchange Server. There is also the Zimbra Outlook Connector.

Thanks for this, will check out CalDAV for Calendar and CardDAV on the wiki howto.

This is how I set mine up. I don't use active sync or Outlook
Click on the Settings icon
select "Mail, Contacts, Calendars"
select "Add Account..."
select "Microsoft Exchange"
enter the settings for the account:

email: username@whatever.com
server: mail.whatever.com
username: username
password: [Zimbra Password]
description: your choice
use SSL: On (most likely)

Once the account is setup, it may take it quite a while to sync. You can also customize the account to enable/disable Mail, Contacts, and Calendar syncing.

Apologies - I can't see anywhere in the wiki anything relating to using the iphone and syncing contacts with CardDav?

Am I missing something?

Cheers
