[SOLVED] availability +lightning+email virtualhost

Sometimes asking helps me to think:
1. added domain xyz.org
2. added alias for each user: userid@xyz.ca of user_name@xyz.org
Now tbird+lightning sees availability for userid@xyz.ca when I type in user_name@xyz.org

Hello All, need help, tearing out my hair,

Small company, we are using Zimbra 6.0.6 FOSS
authentication via AD on Win 2003 (internal domain xyz.ca)
access via thunderbird + lighting for calendar.

zimbra is not hosting email, that is offsite xyz.org

have an smtp server on another box that has a virtual domain & maps the
userid@xyz.ca to user_name@xyz.org so that invites & responses to calendars go to the correct inbox

internal domain userid@xyz.ca is calendar owner & logon to zimbra

Problem: when we use lightning to schedule meetings we are only able to get availabilty if we use the internal domain name userid@xyz.ca

Is there any way to have lightning/zimbra accept user_name@xyz.org and map it to the calendar for availability? Or do I have to educate everyone to use userid@xyz.ca for calendar.

Any help would be appreciated.
