Question Do I need Network Edition?

I have a web application that is currently using my Mail Enable server for emailing notifications via SMTP.

Do I need Zimbra Network Edition to be able to perform that task?

I tried to get it to work....but it was unsuccessful. I was reading somewhere how Network Edition was required to be able to use the outlook connector.....So I'm guessing the same goes for this?

Network Edition is required to sync Outlook, unless you set up Outlook as an IMAP/POP3 account.

I'm not sure how your web application connects, but if it is with standard SMTP/IMAP/POP3 protocols, then you will be fine with the Open Source edition.

the web application connects with standard smtp. It works perfectly fine with Mail Enable. But when I point it to my zimbra server, no connection can be made it seems. The password matches on the zimbra server. I even reset it a few times. Do you think there is a setting I must enable somewhere? The firewall is also disabled on the zimbra box.

Check /var/log/zimbra.log on the Zimbra server when it attempts to send mail and see if you notice any errors.

You can try to "telnet zimbra.server.com 25" from the server that is attempting to send mail to see if it can establish a connection.

Is it set up to authenticate itself against the Zimbra SMTP server with a username password? If not, you may need to set up the proper relay IP's in the admin console.
