Question [SOLVED] Restore single account from backup

Hi everyone

I need to restore a particular folder of e-mail for a user who decided to delete and then empty their trash
I've been informed it's very important (so I don't know why they deleted it)
I do try and urge users to never empty their trash and just wait for the server retention settings to kick in but clearly I was ignored.

I'm running the standard Zimbra backup schedule... daily incrementals then a full backup every Saturday 1 AM or something.

The way I'd like to do it is to restore the user's account to a new temporary account, then move the particular folder over into their current mailbox.

Is it possible to restore one account into a new account? (Different usernames)

Is it even possible to restore individual accounts from a backup?

What's the best way of doing this?
Any comments/suggestions?

I'm running Zimbra 6.0.7_GA_2473.RHEL5_64_20100616202447 CentOS5_64 NETWORK edition

Cheers, B

Yes, backups from Network Edition can be restored for a single user. Probably the easiest way is just to go through the admin console.

You can also do it from the command line on the server: Restoring Data

Is it possible to restore to a different/temporary account?

I don't want to overwrite what the user has been doing today, just want to grab that single folder (and the sub-folders)

Yup! In the second window of the restore wizard, it asks if you would like to preserve usernames or add a prefix. When you add the prefix it creates a new account and restores to that.
