Hi Himanshu, zmplayredo does not sound familiar to me. What do it do?
Also, I dont understand your question, if it's documented then I'd expect it to work, are you experiencing a problem with it?

I Understand that it plays back redo log . Say if I have every daybackup. Then If I sync the redo.log to another machine every 15 minutes , then I can restore the last every day backup & then from redo.log & using zmplayredo command get back to almost current data.

There is no backup function in the Open Source version.

I think what he had in mind was if he had, say, a copy of /opt/zimbra from the day before - could he restore the earlier copy of /opt/zimbra and then fetch a newer redo log and then run zmplayredo, thus bringing him current to the latest redo log.

I guess someone will just have to give it a try and find out!

Yes Correct. Open Source Does not have backup function. But Given a fact that I have taken backup using scripts using rsync .(Cold Sync) And then I take rsync for redo.log every 15 minutes, can I replay back using zmplayredo..?

I'm not affiliated with Zimbra except as a customer, so I can't speak authoritatively. But it should work provided the redolog does go back to the time of your rsync. (I.e., there shouldn't be any gaps.)

The best discussion I've read about how redologs work in FOSS is Of backups and restoration

EDIT: there may be complications if you've added or removed any accounts/resources/aliases/DLs (etc.) since the last rsync.
