Default Zimbra NE Backup Auto Purging Possible?

We have a 6.0.4 NE Zimbra system with about 120 users. It's working fine and doing weekly full backups and daily incremental backups to a special storage device on the system.

The thing is, it's about 50% full at the moment, and does not appear to be removing old backups. I need to know what the procedure is to dump old data to ensure current backups will continue forever.

1. Can I simply manually delete the OLD backup folders on the drive with rm full-old_date_xxxxx -Rf ?
2. Will Zimbra auto delete old backups when it needs more space ?

Thanks in advance, as I can't seem to find proper documentation on what will happen when the backup drive starts to get full.

run zmschedulebackup as the zimbra user. without any arguments it should print your backup schedule. the default looks like this

Code:
zimbra@icarus:~> zmschedulebackup
Current Schedule:

	f 0 1 * * 6 -a all
	i 0 1 * * 0-5
	d 1m 0 0 * * *
the last line means its set to delete backups older than 1 month. does yours have a line like this?

Default Thank you!

Yes, my output looks exactly the same, and after further investigation is appears that there are no backups older than one month. The oldest backup on the system now is July 3rd, which is AFTER we setup the system (it's over 2 months old now).

Thanks again, and I'll keep an eye on it but it appears to be doing what it's supposed to be doing.

Default By the way ...

The drive is only 50% full (650GB or so) -- can we make it 1.5 months?

Just curious how to edit the schedule of automatic deletions.

you'll have you adjust the settings in your backup policy. You have the "default" policy right now. Look at the help for zmschedulebackup it will tell you what you need to do.
