Missing outgoing e-mails in MS Outlook 2k7!!!

hallo,
just wondering if anyone else has run into this issue.

I have one person on my mail domain that I manage who had some emails answered in the outgoingbox of MS Outlook 2k7. Later on he synced his outlook with the mailserver via a UMTS/G3 connection which was interrupted. Now it look like the mails are away but neither the outlook nor the webclient show these mails. They are in none of the folders, not outgoing, not send, nowhere to find. So emails are missing!
Has anyone else has seen this issue before?
