Default Timeout error with external account

As we leave most of our emails on the previous email server, we add it as external account into Zimbra and use get mail to import them. However we get "read timed out" error. Is there a way to extend the timeout value?

Also, is there a way to cancel get mail?

This isn't a Migration question, can you please post your questions in the correct forums instead of putting them all in the Migration forum.

No, there isn't.

But these are the questions and problems that have occurred when I'm doing migration. Which forum should I repost them to? Is there a best practice guide on migration so that I don't have to face so much frustration with the potential limitations of Zimbra?

This is a question about using the external account on a ZImbra server, it's not a migration question.

Don't ever repost any messages on the forums and if you (or anyone else that reads this) have posted in the wrong forum ask a moderator to move it. I've already moved them to the correct forums.

There's no specific best practice guide but there are articles all over the forums and the wiki about migration if you'd care to search for them. The easiest method would be to use IMAPSYNC to migrate mail from your old server, read the Migration article in the wiki, it has full details.
