Default Transforming to 64bit and basedomain-change

For the next two month there will be a nice project:

My zimbra-NE production-installaton needs to be transformed from

1) ubuntu-8.04 --> to ubuntu-10.04

2) 32-bit version --> to 64-bit version

3) base-domain "domain-old.com" --> "domain-new.com"

May be, doing an complete new installation will be the best.
But data-restore in a new base-domain may result in some conflicts, i think.

What is the most handy way for such project?

I think there are many admins thinking about these problems.
Do you plan some installer-scripts for such transforming-projects in future zcs-releases?

Thanks

1) Wait until Ubuntu 10.04 is supported - it is slated for 6.0.8, but its better to be safe than sorry.

Since you're on NE, I'd suggest setting up a new mailbox server on the 64-bit platform with the new hostname, add it to your existing setup as a second server, and then preform the mailbox move procedure to move all of the users mailboxes over to it. You can then move accounts in a staged fashion to allow you time to make sure each user goes uninterrupted. Also add LDAP/MTA services to the new server, and then promote the new server's LDAP to be the master. Once you have everything migrated off, you could then remove the older 32-bit server from the setup.

There are already plenty of articles in the blog, wiki and the forums describing how to migrate from 32bit to 64bit systems. Just to reiterate what Krishopper said, wait until Ubuntu 10.04 is supported, you'll invalidate your support by moving to an unsupported platform.
