Default Cannot get chat to work

Hello
We are new to Zimbra (resellers) and have very recently installed the hosted version and have been trying to get the Chat facility running between 2 of us.
In order to start this we have both tried to declare the other person as a buddy.
Zimbra 'knows' about the other person in that as soon as you start typing in their name it auto-completes the name and allows to to accept them as a buddy. However if you then go back into the buddy facility it says that you have no buddies...............and hence I guess no chat facility.
Can anyone assist with this ? Many thanks.

I had the same issue. I followed a thread I found on here somewhere. I can't remember exactly what I had to do but I did have to go to a command line and do something like 'zmprov yadda yadda yadda'

If i bookmarked it I'll be back later and post the link. There is hope though!

it may have been this:

zmprov -l -v mcf zimbraXMPPEnabled TRUE
zmprov -v mc default zimbraFeatureIMEnabled TRUE
zmprov -v mc default zimbraFeatureInstantNotify TRUE

restart server

Obviously you wanna double check that with the smart people around here!

I know once I got it going I download pidgin and used it setup chat groups for different departments in our company and it seems to work pretty well.

Default Thanks for reply

Hi
Thanks very much for your reply. However since we are using the hosted version rather than our own Zimbra server I'm assuming that the commands you have given won't have the desired effect.
When I find out the resolution I'll post it here.............unless someone else does first. Thanks again for your assistance.
Richard

Well, the only other thing I could think of would be make sure that it is enabled in Class of Service options.

Good Luck!
