Default Network edition backup question - number of incremental/fulls ?

Is there somewhere in the GUi to modify the backup procedures? i.e.: can I edit how many backups the system keeps without editing the crontab itself? The cron says 'warning dont edit this!' so I dont know if somewhere in the GUI it is set..

Thanks

you can edit the crontab (use crontab -e) if you know what your'e doing. zimbra includes a cli zmschedulebackup to attempt to make this easier i think it does some validation of values. but if you're comfortable modifying a crontab you can do that without issue

Try the Administration Guide.

You'll lose those changes after every upgrade, you could always file an RFE for it to be included in the Admin UI.

So zmschedulebackup saves the backup schedule somewhere other than the cron?

I'm not sure, but I'd assume so. You could have a look through /opt/zimbra/bin/zmschedulebackup.

In any case zmschedulebackup currently has an important limitation in that it can't set the --noZip option. Bug 45634 - add noZip option to zmschedulebackup

So, for many of us, crontab -u zimbra -e is necessary & how we do it. Just do be aware that your changes may be overwritten on upgrade.
