Question [SOLVED] zimbra on vmware (6.0.6 rhel5_64)

Hi All,

I have setup a test zimbra (6.0.6 rhel5_64) on vmware
ESX on a high spec dell r900 (16 x 2G cpu 50G RAM)
which is a duplicate of our live server.

Initially zimbra seem to run OK (but not very fast).

After a few days it seems to slow to a craw, and the cpu load increases to ~10
The process
Code:
11947 ? Sl 671:20 /opt/zimbra/java/bin/java -server -Djava.awt.headless
=true -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:NewRatio=2 -XX:PermSize=128m -XX:MaxPermSize=1
28m -XX:SoftRefLRUPolicyMSPerMB=1 -verbose:gc -XX:+PrintGCDetails -XX:+PrintGCTi
meStamps -XX:+PrintGCApplicationStoppedTime -Xss256k -Xms26527m -Xmx26527m -Xmn6
631m -Djava.io.tmpdir=/opt/zimbra/mailboxd/work -Djava.library.path=/opt/zimbra/
lib -Djava.endorsed.dirs=/opt/zimbra/mailboxd/common/endorsed -Dzimbra.config=/o
pt/zimbra/conf/localconfig.xml -Djetty.home=/opt/zimbra/mailboxd -DSTART=/opt/zi
mbra/mailboxd/etc/start.config -jar /opt/zimbra/mailboxd/start.jar /opt/zimbra/m
ailboxd/etc/jetty.properties /opt/zimbra/mailboxd/etc/jetty-setuid.xml /opt/zimb
ra/mailboxd/etc/jetty.xml
uses ~50% CPU.
a reboot seem to fix this, which wouldn't be ideal if this was a live server
any suggestions on how to improve this would be appreciated?

All the log files seem normal

There is a fix for CPU load increasing.

We are having the same problem but as soon as we reboot this process comes up and eats up 100% of the server's resources.... This only happened after upgrading from 5.0 to 6.06...

/opt/zimbra/java/bin/java -server -Djava.awt.headless=true

Any thoughts?

I would open a support case with Zimbra then.

Hope that helps,
Mark

Hi!

What CPU Usage is "normal" for a productive Zimbra Mailserver?
My zimbra installation runs on vSphere 4 Cluster since 12 months now and I'm very happy, but I have usually CPU usage around 40% -

See attached file.

But I runs quite stable and I'm not having problems with it.

Today I upgraded to the latest release 6.0.6 and didn't find any difference to the "old" release 6.0.4

I forgot: My base system is not RHEL! It's Ubuntu 8.0.4!!!
