Default My /opt along with zimbra directory deleted.

Hi, I am in a big problem. My /opt directory along with zimbra directory got deleted in a fine morning. My questions are 1. Can my zimbra mail boxes and all the settings recovered. 2. If yes, then pls tell me the way, how to do that. 3. How can the /opt directory gets deleted without any intervention. Please help.

It got deleted because you had a symlink for /opt to another directory. Whether it can be recovered depends on whether you took a backup before doing an upgrade (I assume that's what you did) and how old the backup is.

Which version & release of Zimbra did you have installed? Was the backup done on the same release of Zimbra? How did you do the backup? Obviously if you restore to that release you'll lose the email between the original backup and now.

As Phoenix has said did you happen to have /opt mounted to a different file system ? Have you checked /var/log/messages for any errors ?

    Hi All....
The version was zcs 4 GA open source on RHEL4 platform. Now tomorrow i am planning to have a new installation of a higher version of zcs. What are the ways of adding the users from an external AD ie 2003 server to zimbra. the /opt was not mounted under / only in the same hard disk. The strange hurdle made me work on the week end. Pls help the possible ways of importing users from win server 2003 AD. regards to all.
