Default Migration from 5.0.9 to 6.0.6

Hi,

we have to migrate an existing Zimbra OSS 5.0.9 installation from a Debian 4.0 32Bit Box to a new 6.0.6 Network Edition Install on a new Server with Ubuntu 8.0.4 LTS 32 Bit.

There are only 6 users on this system. So I was wondering if it would be
safe to do a clean new install on the new box, create the 6 users and just to
export / import the Userdata via ZWC ?

Does anybody know if this is possible? Any pointers and recommendations how to do this with minimal effort are welcome.

Thank your very much for your help.

Regards

Andreas

Why not just run the upgrade? Just back up your stuff first, but it should be fine.

Yes that should work fine, for that number of users it's probably the quickest and safest method of moving them.

FWIW, I've had issues with AV/SPAM blocking all inbound emails and also the stats and logger being broken after 5.0.9 to 6.0.6. YMMV.

Thanks for your help. The Problem I see is that I have two different things to do:
  1. Upgrade from 5.0.9 to 6.0.6
  2. Move the Zimbra installation and data from the old Debian server to the new Ubuntu server

If the Upgrade goes well on the old Server can I just move the entire /opt/zimbra directory to the new server and do in in place reinstall / upgrade?
