Calendar Reminders via Email

Hi folks,

I have looked and looked and cannot find a way to have Zimbra send emails for calendar reminders/notifications. I found this article from 2008 that indicates Yahoo had such a feature and since Yahoo Mail is Zimbra-based, I had hoped the feature had made it into Zimbra.

I am at version 6.0.6. This seems like such a fundamental function. Right now, if you aren't sitting in front of a computer, you get no calendar notification (ie. cell phone, pager, pop3/imap client, etc). For those of us on the road a lot, this is a major gap.

Does anyone know how to get Zimbra to send emails for calendar events?

I would have missed this feature, until I got an iphone and Zimbra network edition. Then you get proper calendar with reminder on the phone, and the calendar works on the road as you need it. Really using email to alert you about calendar events is a problem with your calendar access.

That only helps if you have a smart-phone... with a compatible calendar sync. SMS/email messages can be sent to virtually any phone.

Yep -- thats what I'm looking for. Too bad it's been on the back burner for 4-years with no progress.
