Default Replacing ClamAV

Hi all,

I'm currently deploying ZCS 6 within a lab environment, before moving to the production, and I'd like to know if I can replace ClamAV with a different anti-virus.

If it's replaceable, can you please indicate how, and any other AV that you'd recommend?

Thank you,

Stuff an Anti-SPAM/AV gateway in front of the Zimbra server and disable the AntiSpam/AV on Zimbra. That's the easiest way to do it. There are a number of appliances and some open source softtware that can do it. Check the WIki, I think there are a few writeups on different approaches.

That's clearly the easiest way to do it, but I wanted to see if I could have done it on Zimbra itself, replacing ClamAV with another open source AV.

Thanks tgx

Well, Zimbra uses amavisd, which supports other AV software besides ClamAV, so I would say it CAN be done. The question is how difficult will it be to implement and will it be worth the effort? Typically with Zimbra a lot of "outside the system" / "behind the scenes" configuration changes get lost with upgrades, so keep that in mind if you do proceed.
