Default How Zimbra decides which mailbox server?

Under one COS, you can dedicate more than one mailbox servers. Whenever an account is created, Zimbra will decide which mailbox to put the new account in.

I want to know because currently I want to add one more hi-end mailbox server, in addition to our current low-end mailbox server.

Purely based on no of accounts? or storage left? or zimbra also consider the CPU and RAM of the server?

How about you guys? Do you create COS dedicated for one mailbox server (standardA for serverA , standardB for serverB)? or you just let zimbra decided for you?

According to the documentation
Quote:
The servers in the pool are randomly assigned new accounts.

Depends. You can also create user explicitly specifying zimbraMailHost

zmprov ca accountname password zimbraMailHost mailhostserver

random is cool for spreading the accounts around. You can use COS or explicit or move them later. its pretty flexible actually.

You might not want out of 1000 users 800 to be on one and other server being under utilized. I have seen cases where random places large differences in user spread.
