Default Extend partition or add a volyme for zimbra?

Hi

For best performance, should i extend the partition using LVM or should i add a volume to zimbra? Does zimbra load balance betwen volymes?

regards Anders

Welcome to the forums

AFAIK adding new volumes can be used for HSM (Hierarchy Storage Management) which would allow you to migrate data (based on search parameters) to lower speed disks. Though you could just add additional storage to the LVM group if using the same disk type is not a issue.

you can add another volume without hsm. it won't load balance though. whatever you set as teh primary volume is where new messages will be stored. the other will just always contain what it contained once it stopped becoming the primary.
