Default [SOLVED] Problems with built-in date and url Zimlets, anyone else?

Hi everyone

I've had a few users reporting some inconsistencies with the date and url Zimlets that ship with Zimbra

The date zimlet
I find that when a date is written as dd/mm/yy or mm/dd/yy then Zimbra sometimes interprets the first 2 digits as the year
As far as I'm aware, the first 2 digits of a short date should never be the year. I could understand if there were 4 digits written at the start as that would obviously be a year.

So if you check out the datezimlet1 attachment, you'll see a date of 04/05/10 the tooltip tries to list appointments for 10th May 2004

Then in the datezimlet2 attachment, the same happens. But the middle one, a date written in mm/dd/yy format doesn't get highlighted.
I can't think of any date format where the leading digits should be interpreted as the year.

The url zimlet
When I receive a plain text email I notice that URLs don't get highlighted automatically.
Is this by design?

Also if I get sent a long link which contains an @ character in it, like those e-mail confirmation things, then it gets highlighted as an e-mail address rather than a URL even though it starts with http on the same line.

Also it would be great if the url zimlet could be modified to parse URLs in the calendar appointment notes section and also the link that's inserted at the bottom of RSS feed items.

Anyone else aware of these or should I file them in Bugzilla as RFEs?

Cheers, B

Within the ZWC preferences what do you have the locale set to ? Actually it has nothing to do with the locale and is repeatable. Will see what the Zimlet actually does within the code.

I am getting the same here ... Have extracted the com_zimbra_date Zimlet and looks through the pattern matching for the en_GB template.

Anyone else seeing the same behaviour in these zimlets?

The most annoying one is the URL zimlet not highlighting URLs in plain text messages.

EDIT: I think it's strange that the email zimlet highlights e-mail addresses in plain text messages but the url zimlet doesn't.
Is this by design?

Hi everyone

Can anyone confirm or deny that the url zimlet is meant to highlight URLs in plain text messages?
It just doesn't seem to be doing it on our server.
I've tried disabling/enabling, undeploying/deploying and flushed the zimlet cache multiple times, but still nothing

Cheers, B

I can't confirm or deny what the url zimlet is supposed to do, but I can tell you that it works for me. Plain text message with an http:// link in it. The link gets shown in blue and a mouse-over shows the "URL" pop-up. I wonder if another zimlet could be interfering in your installation.

The only zimlets I have enabled in the COS are email, url and date
I don't have any other 3rd party zimlets installed, only the ones that came with Zimbra. I disabled the Y local and yemoticons zimlets and have the NE zimlets all working perfectly well (backup/restore, cert manager etc)

Strange as the email zimlet works great, highlighting email addresses and showing the email popup

Thanks for letting me know on that!
At least I now know that something isn't right. I'll be upgrading our server to 6.0.7 in a week or so once it's released so maybe that will sort it out.

Cheers, B

Hi everyone

I've just upgraded to 6.0.8 and we're still having problems with these 2 built-in zimlets.

The url zimlet doesn't highlight URLs in plain text messages
The date zimlet often gets the date wrong with 2 digit years

Can anyone think of anything that might fix these?
I've tried undeploying, disabling-re enabling etc but still having problems
