Default [SOLVED] adding second domain

I have sucessfully installed zimbra community edition. All is working with the initial domain.

Trying to install a second domain on the same server. I can send mail, receive mail from the primary zimbra domain on the second domain but cannot receive mail from externa on second domainl. Can go to webmail.seconddomain and log in with just user name.

I suspect it has something to do with how the MX record for the second domain is configured. The DNS records are at godaddy. The primary domain on zimbra is working though. I have the godaddy MX set to the zimbra server ip address. Tried same setting on godaddy for the second domain.

I have also established the bind records and bind db on ubuntu for the second domain.

I am sure there is a simple dah answer.

Thanks

The MX record for the second domain needs to be the zimbra server hostname, not IP address - so that may be part of your problem.

If you'd like to let me know what the second domain is, I can do a quick check and see if I see any obvious issues from the external world (PM it to me if you do not want to publicly post it in the forum).

You need an A record for host.yourdomain.com pointing to the server's IP. Then you create the MX record point to that A record.

Since you are using Godaddy for your DNS, what is the Ubuntu bind server for? Are you running split DNS? If so you need to check both internal sending of mail and external sending as both locations are using different DNS.

Hello Guys

I have the similar question about the second domain. I have allready sussefull install zimbra 6.0.5 on centos 5.4 (OSS) and i want to install new one domain. Can someone tell how can i do this? I have configure split dns method in local bind and db with my domain. Now needs to create a newone like this "db.mail.mydomain1.com" or simple add the second domain records in the same db in "db.mail.mydomain1.com"

Thanks anyone..

That's not another domain, it's a sub-domain of domain1.com. Having two domains would be like this: domain1.com, domain2.com - if you have mail.domain1.com then it is a sub-domain.

Thanks for the quickly replay. I want to add a newone domain second domain like "mail.mydomain2.com" or mail.newdomain.com isolated domain not subdomain. How can i configure my DNS for this case? If this will finished i have 1 domain to add again. Finally in this server i will configure 3 domains.

thanks

I've already said that this 'mail.mydomain2.com' is not a domain, it's a sub-domain, a domain should be this: domain1.com. I would hazard a guess that you've used the FQDN of your server a the domain name and that's incorrect - you might like to search the forums to find out how to rename the domain using zmprov.

My domain is correct maybe you dont understand my case. I dont want to rename my domain, its in use in production and works fine. But i need to add some new domains on the same server.

Now i have George.com and i like to add John.com and jim.com these are diferent domains not subdomains like John.George.com or Jim.George.com. In other words i dont like to buy 3 servers for this case i want to put 3 domains on the same server.

thanks.

Thanks for the help
I did change the A record at godaddy to the ip for the Zimbra Server. ALl is working now.

However, I am running the split DNS option (new to me). If I want to run a web site for the second domain, where do I add the IP, at Godaddy under the CNAME or on the Zimbra Box in the bind database entry.

Sorry to be so elementry with the questions!

Figured it out. Changed CNAME at godaddy, all is working.
Thanks ALL!
