Default [SOLVED] upgrade to 5.0.21 from 5.0.11 failed

Planned to upgrade to zcs-NETWORK-5.0.21_GA_3151.RHEL4.20091211080331

Started ./install.sh as root

found the license
found the backup

verify database integrity (did not do this)
verify logger database Y (did this)

error found errors in logger and 6 active clients so it exited

Then I zmcontrol stop and grep for zm

$ ps aux | grep zm
zimbra 6972 0.0 0.1 8920 4984 ? S 08:23 0:00 /usr/bin/perl /opt/zimbra/libexec/zmlogger
root 16183 0.0 0.0 4352 636 pts/0 S+ 08:28 0:00 grep zm
$ kill -9 6972
[root@mail ~]$ ps aux | grep zm
zimbra 6972 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? Z 08:23 0:00 [zmlogger] <defunct>
root 16537 0.0 0.0 4480 636 pts/0 S+ 08:29 0:00 grep zm

Not sure what that zmlogger defunct was or how to kill it

started upgrade again

./install.sh

Exiting.

Rebooted server and its working as normal tried the upgrade again and it does not find the license or backup so I do not want to continue.

Will try again after the usual backup runs tonight and see if it works.

Any advice?

As it says just run a full backup. Just make sure you license is valid by running
Code:
su - zimbra
zmlicense -c
zmlicense -p
If all looks good then you can proceed with the upgrade.

Thank's for replying.

I assumed that is what needs to be done. Just a little confused as to why it found the backup the first time then could not find it.

$ zmlicense -c
license is OK
$ zmlicense -p
ValidFrom=20091213000000Z
ValidUntil=20110302170000Z

Tried again this morning

seemed to go though the upgrade allright without any errors but mailboxd would not start

seems we were a victim of
https://bugzilla.zimbra.com/show_bug.cgi?id=41683

How we solved it....

As part of the zimbra upgrade, jetty was upgraded from 6.1.5 to
6.1.22.z5 The keystore file was not migrated into the new jetty install
folder. Manually copying the keystore file resolved the issue

cp /opt/zimbra/jetty-6.1.5/etc/keystore /opt/zimbra/jetty/etc/

notified zimbra support who in fairness responded within a few minutes, we are network edition users with paid for support...
