Default mail queue management

I am curious if there is anyone out there who has an automated way of manageing the mail queues. Our mail is fairly critical to our business and we have had messages get stuck in both the deferred queue and the incoming queue. We need a way to know when a message has been stuck in either of those queues for more than a few minutes and possible ways to automatically requeue the message. If anyone has any experience with this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps you could use qshape to monitor/analyse your queues, details here: Postfix Bottleneck Analysis

Thank you for the info @phoenix. I think I can use this in conjunction with some zabbix checks to ensure that there are no stuck e-mails in a queue.

I don't use Zabbix myself but there's a thread on their forums that might provide a pointer for using qshape: postfix monitoring - ZABBIX Forums - if you manage to get it working a wiki article from you might be help for others, if you got the time to write it up.
