Default Multi-server setup services shown as not runing (red X in admin UI)

Hello all,

I have a Zimbra OSE multi-server install and in the admin UI all services of others servers are shown as down. The services for the first mailbox server are shown as up.

I'm running Zimbra 6.0.5 OSE "over" CentOS 5.4.

All syslog are configured to push data to "master logger server", and it's functionnal.

I wonder how the logger server checks what services are currently running on other servers ? SSH + zmcontrol status ?

The thing I don't have is "STATUS" data logged for each server in /var/log/zimbra.log.
Does each server have to log this entry to this file to be marked as up in admin UI ?

Thanks for your help.

every server needs to be logging it's zimbramon output to the logger server. like you will see on the logger server probably

Mar 24 10:30:04 zimbra zimbramon[17095]: 17095:info: 2010-03-24 10:30:01, STATUS: zimbra.domain.com: mailbox: Running

thats how it knows.

why zimbramon is not activated by default ?

is that a cron job or a daemon one ?

i think the cron job responsible for this is

*/2 * * * * /opt/zimbra/libexec/zmstatuslog

is it logging the status of the other servers to their local zimbra.log or /var/log/messages instead of the logger server?

I think that's my problem.
If I run "zmstatuslog" by hand from any of my server (except from the logger server), nothing is logged to /var/log/zimbra.log or on the logger server.
The script return without saying anything.

My syslog.conf is, I think, correct: data is likely to be sent on remote syslog (the logger server).

If I understand, running this script by hand must have wrote something containing "STATUS" in logfiles ?
