Briefcase is not working as expected

Hi there,

I have a question regarding Zimbra's Briefcase function.

We are using
Release 6.0.5_GA_2213.UBUNTU8_64 UBUNTU8_64 NETWORK edition

and I usually use the webinterface of Zimbra.

now, I like the idea of sharing docs with other people or heving secured access to repeatately needed files so I was eager to use the briefcase.

first I created a new spreadsheet (i know, its beta...) and copied my data into the new file...
everything seemed to work fine, i saved and closed the file.

now, when I open the file again to edit it, i can't save the made changes!

i then thought, maybe its because it is a beta-funtionality, this will probably be fixed before it goes final... maybe i'll try the "New Document" instead (as there was no hint for beeing still in beta too)...

but no luck, same effekts as in the spreadsheet:

sometimes i can edit the file and save it afterwards, sometimes I can't...

i can copy all data from an existing file when i open it, then create a new one, paste the data, modify it and then save nearly everytime. but if i try to edit the same file and save it again, nothing happens. there is no green "file saved" coming from above

this is REALLY annoing and i have absolutely NO idea, where an error could be originated...

any help would be greatly appreciated!

sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn´t...

please could someone at least point me in the right direction? i am starting to be very frustrated because of this problem...

AND because nobody has answered to this post for ages (actually nearly half a year... )

I don't really have an answer for you, but rather a few suggestions:

1) Have you searched bugzilla to see if this issue has already been reported? If you can't find anything there you may want to consider opening up a new bug.

2) Have you looked at the release notes for 6.0.6 and 6.0.7 (soon 6.0.8) to see if there is any mention of fixes that potentially might address this issue?

3) You are running NE. Have you opened a support case with Zimbra? (not exactly sure how this works, as I'm a FOSS user).

It seems like in general the briefcase, and specifically the built-in documents, are a work in progress. I have seen mention that version 7.0 (Helix) will bring (many) improvements to the briefcase.

I don't use the built-in briefcase documents much, but I have seen issues elsewhere with how the briefcase links are constructed (http vs. https, internal vs. external access, etc.).
