Problem with duplicating drafts

I encountered a problem where a user tried to send a mass mailing (1000-1200 recipients) which failed (because of exceeding the maximum allowed recipients). After this the draft that was created keeps duplicating itself in de the drafts folder.

It follow a regular interval of 10 minutes. So every ten minutes a new message is created in the drafts folder.

I already suggested to empty the drafts folder and the deleted items folder, but this did not resolve the problem.

This error looks very similar to the 'ghost mails in drafts folder' which I read about on this forum, but in this case there actually are messages in the folder.

Does anyone might have a solution for this?
