Default Admin console:Server Status->Disk usage chews up disk free space

FYI:
When I select the "disk" status tab under "Server Status" in the Admin console, the disk status does not display (reads "loading data for chart") and within minutes the available server disk space (8.7GB) goes to 0GB available.

The disk usage [df -h] went from 8.7G available to 6.8G in a matter of 1 minute approximately, and the Admin console is attempting to load the "disk usage" charts.

This is a serious bug that I have replicated twice. It is an issue I can't fix, and I cannot repeat during business hours as this is my only server.

Has anyone else seen this happen?
