Default [SOLVED] mailbox crashing

I'm having a weird problem in one of our servers.

First things first:

[zimbra@zimbra ~]$ zmcontrol -v

Release 5.0.18_GA_3011.RHEL5_20090707164432 CentOS5 FOSS edition

[zimbra@zimbra ~]$ cat /etc/redhat-release
CentOS release 5.3 (Final)

The server ran fine for months, then a couple of days ago zmmailbox started crashing for no aparent reason. first twice a day, then 4-5 times a day.

Users call because they can't read their email and after checking with "zmcontrol status" I see that "zmmailboxdctl is not runing". If I restart it, everything goes fine until it crashes again.

I checked the logs and I saw this when it crashed for the last time:

Mar 9 16:15:33 zimbra postfix/lmtp[20687]: 2FE363DC016: to=<someuser@example.com>, relay=zimbra.example.com[172.16.8.61]:7025, delay=101377, delays=101376/0.02/0.09/0.6, dsn=4.0.0, status=deferred (host zimbra.example.com[172.16.8.61] said: 451 4.0.0 Temporary message delivery failure try again (in reply to end of DATA command))
Mar 9 16:15:33 zimbra zmmailboxdmgr[534]: manager woke up from wait on mailboxd/JVM with pid 11964
Mar 9 16:15:33 zimbra zmmailboxdmgr[534]: mailboxd/JVM exited twice in 54 seconds (tolerance=60)

after that all the LMTP transactions failed with "dsn=4.4.2, status=deferred"

any pointers/ideas on what can be wrong will be greatly apreciated

Check /opt/zimbra/log/mailbox.log for any error messages as well.

just a quick update: I found out the reason. there was a big email delivered to too many recipients which caused the process to freeze.
