Default Query Zimbra's LDAP

Hi there

I know I can use an extrenal LDAP for authentication, but as far as I understodd for authentication only, i.e. Zimbra cannot get other stuff (e.g. address, phone numbers, etc,) from an external LDAP Server.

As I need LDAP for a central user repository (website authentication, Modle Authentication, etc.), but don't want to keep two directories (Zimbra and LDAP) up to date, I wonder whether I can query the Zimbra Mail server for extrenal authentication from e.g. a website, or use some sort of LDAP Proxy like Penrose. Is Zimbra's LDAP Structure changed a lot? where can I find the rootdn?

Thanks a lot in advance

Andre

Hi
perfect, thanks a lot
The link you provided is a bit confusing in regards to username / password.
I tried every possible combination without success, is there a special PW?

yes..you dont want to add anything to zimbra ldap as that may break the update or will be erased on every update.
So is true for any custom settings you may do in zimbra configs by hands..they will get lost in update too.
