Calendar - Deleting series deletes modified instances

Release 6.0.5_GA_2213.RHEL5_64_20100203001950 CentOS5_64 FOSS edition

Modified instances of a recurring series of appointments are also deleted when the series is deleted. Is this a bug or a wanted effect?

For my group, it is problematic when someone accidentally deletes a series and all of the modified instances also disappear.
