How to update scanners

hi,

I'm using zcs-3.1.4_GA_518.DEBIAN3.1 with debian sarge.

My clamav log says "This version of the ClamAV engine is outdated". Is there a way to upgrade the scanner software Clamav and Spamassassin to the current versions without breaking anything else in my setup?

I've noticed the same in my Clam logs .. was tempted to update by hand, but I have other problems to worry about without breaking more myself.

An automated procedure would be much appreciated ..

It is automated (see the crontab) but you must have internet access from the Zimbra box to the ClamAV updates site.

Signature updates are done automatically, true.

"Engine" updates are not done automatically, which is what the OP asked.
Just making sure we're on the same sheet of music and all. ;-)
