Default Zimbra Admin console hangs after 6.0.5 upgrade

I'm having the same problem as this post:

[SOLVED] ZCS 6.04 admin console failed to display text fields.

after an upgrade to 6.0.5 last night. Reinstalling like that other person did isn't really an option -- too many users and too much downtime.

We haven't made any changes to the splash screen; it's just stock Zimbra NE 6.0.5.

The Firefox javascript error console says:

Error: this.mDownBoxAnimate is undefined
chrome://browser/content/tabbrowser.xml Line: 3179

That line is

this.mDownBoxAnimate.style.opacity = percent;

mailbox.log shows reports

2010-02-18 15:50:46,049 INFO [btpool0-546://zimbra.example.edu:7071/service/admin/soap/GetAdminConsoleUICompRequest] [name=lindsey@example.edu;mid=5;ip=172.168.1.199;ua =ZimbraWebClient - FF3.0 (Mac);] soap - GetAdminConsoleUICompRequest

and it just sits with no further connection data until it times out with 'requested session no longer exists.'

Any ideas? We need to get into the Admin console.

Thanks,

Chris

having not done my 5.x to 6.x upgrade yet i'm just going to take a stab and say maybe try disabling some of the admin zimlets with zmzimlettcl and see if maybe one of them is causing it not to load

Please check your Net tab in Firebug for errors. It looks like an upgrade problem.

No errors in the net tab. Last item is downloading AppBanner.png (I can attach a screenshot of the net tab listing if that helps).

Firebug console tab shows these:

ZaZimbraAdmin.MSG_KEY is undefined
[Break on this error] ZaZimbraAdmin.MSG_KEY[ZaZimbraAdmin._BACKUPS_BY_SERVER_VIEW]="BNR_view_title";

ZaLicense.setLicenseStatus is not a function
[Break on this error] ZaLicense.setLicenseStatus(this)

ZaZimbraAdmin.MSG_KEY is found in the com_zimbra_backuprestore zimlet. Disabling the zimlet allows the admin console to work fine. Re-enabling it breaks things again.

Lines 23-26 of the com_zimbra_backuprestore.js appear to be the culprits.

So now we get into the admin interface for account maintenance, etc., but still have no backup interface capability.

We've seen several ZCS 5-to-6 upgrades where the upgrade installer failed to upgrade the zimlets though the upgrade otherwise completed successfully.

We reinstalled the zimlets from the commandline and the zimlets then became usable.

Have not seen the admin console break as a result, but since we manually reinstalled the zimlets right after the upgrades, not sure we would have noticed.

Hope that helps,
Mark
