Is it possible to set a group preference so that all users automatically sign in (or even just those in a particular COS)

That is, sign into the IM feature where its enabled

That should be the case by default., use zmprov and look in the COS for the field:

zimbraPrefIMAutoLogin

[dselvey]

zmprov mc staff zimbraPrefIMAutoLogin TRUE

Worked perfectly.
