Default Move an user from one store to another

Hello everyone,

I'm currently using Zimbra 5.0.18 Open Source. I know it has an internal 'load balancer' at registration time, meaning that new users are automatically sent to the store with less users. But what if i want to move an user from one store (let's call it store1) to another (store2) after registration? I mean, let's suppose i realize maybe too late that store1 is too full, so i add store2 to pool but i also want to send a couple of users from store1 to store2 to reduce the number of users already at store1. Is it by any chance possible? I already tried a couple of non-official scripts for that, but none has worked properly until now.

Any suggestion on how to solve this will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Rodrigo

Firstly the notion of "I know it has an internal 'load balancer' at registration time, meaning that new users are automatically sent to the store with less users" is incorrect. Zimbra uses random algorithm which would mean you can have one server with more number of users. In that case you can explicitly create user to have mailbox on a specific mailstore. zmprov ca test1@domain.com <password> zimbraMailHost <servername>

Coming to your question you can use zmmailboxmove utility. Read Zmmailboxmove - Zimbra :: Wiki.

Hi Veronica, thanks a lot for ur reply and info. About the 'load balancer', does it mean that if i add a new store to the pool, even though it is empty, the other servers will continue taking more users?

And about the zmmailboxmove utility, as i understand it's a feature only offered at the Network Edition, am i right? My Zimbra 5.0.18 Open Source doesn't have this binary...

Yes that is quite possible. Its a random algorithm you cannot guarantee it distributes users evenly.

Open Source should also have it. The utility is in /opt/zimbra/libexec.
