Default 3.1.4 Update - FC3

I thought I saw somewhere that there would be no more updates released for FC3? There is however a binary listed for the FC3 3.1.4 update.

I am in no way being ungrateful here ...but just curious if there has been a change of heart in regards to FC3 support?

Cheers,

Travis

Hi tbullock,
The goal is to phase out FC3 to phase in FC5.
I have just migrated from FC3 to 4.

Because 3.1.4 falls under the updates for the 3.1 packages (ie there still can be a 3.1.5 or 6 or 7 if needed)

Once 3.2 comes out, that will end support for FC3. It would be good; however, to migrate to FC4 sooner than later.

Hope this helps,
john

Thanks John.

Did you have any issues with Zimbra after running the Upgrade from FC3 to FC4?

Cheers,

Travis

Hi Travis,

Yes I did. Most, if not all of them were permissions issues that can be solved one problem at a time (and there WILL be problems) through the forums.

Also, we kind of ran into some rather interesting problems.
My particular server has been running Zimbra as a production server since the first beta, and it posed some interesting problems.

One note: I helped create the wiki on backup and restore, and in there I say to put in the backup in /opt/zimbra and THEN install. DON'T DO THAT. The installer will simply write over your files.

Install Zimbra first will all of the goodies the way you want them. Make sure you are doing the SAME release.

The stop zimbra, replace your idiot install with the good one, then re-install.

Hope this helps. I didn't want to do it either, but I learned a lot on do's and don'ts.

Good luck, and when you do upgrade, remember we'll be here.

John
