Default need help with referral chaining

i am hoping some one can help me to figure out how to get referrals with chain overlays to work under the zimbra ldap.

Lets say i have two separate servers zimbra.domain1.com and zimbra.domain2.com. Each serves out domain1.com and domain2.com respectively.

Now I want use the zimbra servers as and LDAP Auth server for several different (non zimbra) servers. and I want to point the ldap clients to zimbra.domain1.com and authenticate both users@domain1.com and users@domain2.com.

After reading some documents online:
Chapter 7.4 Referrals
OpenLDAP Software 2.4 Administrator's Guide: Overlays

I believe this is possible by setting up referrals and the setting it up to do a chain overlay. But the instructions are for a standard openldap server. I am trying to figure out how to achieve this with Zimbra Ldap. Can somebody point me in the right direction?

Thank You,
Tomoki

Thumbs down UPDATE: Referral seems to break zimbra

OK, so i managed to add the referral object using ldapadd on the command line...
and as soon as i managed that, i could no longer login as a user, and the Admin Console got stuck whille loading...
I am guessing I can't use referrals with zimbra.

So I guess i will setup an external openldap server
and set up referrals to the zimbra servers.
