Default Zimlets & Upgrading Document templates...failed.

Running Version 5.0.18

My Zimlets haven't existed for years. If I go into the Web interface, there is no section for Zimlets.

What is interesting is I recently moved to a new server. When I first installed ZCS, the Zimlet section was there. Then I restored ldap and mailboxes and it was gone again.

The first method I used to move to the new server was to do a dummy install, then copy the old ZCS folder to the new server, and run the upgrade. But I kept getting the "Upgrading Document templates...failed" error at the end. So I switched to an alternate method which involved doing a regular install then restoring the data. This got rid of the "Upgrading Document templates...failed" message, but after I did the restore everything wasn't working right, so I ran the upgrade. I received the "Upgrading Document templates...failed" message at the end. Now, the server seems to work fine except for the missing Zimlet section.

I'm wondering if the "Upgrading Document templates...failed" message and the missing Zimlet section are related. Perhaps corrupt zimlets or something. Not sure if it's relevant, but I use a publicly issued certificate.

Does anyone have any ideas of what might be going on with my server?

Thanks, Eric

Hi

I've got the same error upgrading from 5.0.16 to 6.0.4, but things went well though.. The days after the upgrade new issues showed up - not related to this ... new bugs, I guess.

Code:
...cut
Finished updating non-standard zimlets.
Upgrading Document templates...failed.
Restarting mailboxd...done.
...cut
Kind Regards Henrik

The zimlets are enabled for the default COS. I redeployed one zimlet using cli and saw no errors. Still there is no zimlet section on left pane in web interface.

I redeployed as follows:

root@mail:/opt/zimbra/mailboxd/webapps/service/zimlet# mv com_zimbra_ymemoticons com_zimbra_ymemoticonsold
root@mail:/opt/zimbra/mailboxd/webapps/service/zimlet# su zimbra
zimbra@mail:~$ cd /opt/zimbra/zimlets
zimbra@mail:~/zimlets$ zmzimletctl deploy com_zimbra_ymemoticons.zip
[] INFO: Deploying on mail.domain.com
[] INFO: Deploy initiated. (check the servers mailbox.log for the status)
zimbra@mail:~/zimlets$ zmmailboxdctl restart
Stopping mailboxd...done.
Starting mailboxd...done.

maillog:

Not sure if this sheds any light:

zimbra@mail:~/zimlets-extra$ ls -l
-rw-r--r-- 1 zimbra zimbra 3778 2009-07-08 01:21 com_zimbra_ymaps.zip
zimbra@mail:~/zimlets-extra$ zimbra@mail:~/zimlets$ zmzimletctl deploy com_zimbra_ymaps.zip
bash: zimbra@mail:~/zimlets$: No such file or directory
zimbra@mail:~/zimlets-extra$

Forget last post, found error and it deployed.

I see com_zimbra_ymaps in the mailboxd/webapps/service/zimlet directory.

Still no zimlets section in the ZCS web interface.

Ahh, I undeployed them, and then deployed and it now works.

Default Upgrade from 5.0.16 to 6.0.5 Document templates failed

Hi

I took the opportunity to upgrade some zimbra servers, one of them I had an issue with and re ran the upgrade that fixed things, but another gets the upgrade document templates failed error.

After this all the zimbra services are running after a zmcontrol status.

However the web interface does not come up.

The system is accepting mail but users repeatly are asked for password when sending.

Any Ideas, it looks like I will have to revert back to 5.0.16 with earlier backup

Thanks in advance

Default Looks like I will have to fix this

For some reason if I copy all the /opt/zimbra data that I had backed up previous to the upgrade, then it will not let me run the ./install script for the 5.0.16 version on this data.

It can somehow still see that a version 6 install was in place.

This means I can not restore my backup.

This means I have to fix this issue or do a complete fresh install.

What logs may be of use for this?

What are document templates? Why do I need them and what does this failure signify?

How about starting with the install/upgrade log file?

The Document Templates are used in the Documents tab for the user, it should not make any difference that they weren't upgraded and is most likely not the cause of the problem. Are all the services running? If they're not check the log files and if you have errors you could search the forums for some tips on fixing problems you've encountered.

Default Not yet solved

I have set up a fresh insatll of Zimbra as a virtual machine, hence I can snapshot next time I upgrade.

I have done many upgrades in the past and had many times that services have not started, then I looked in the forums and always found an answer.

What is unique about this one is that all the services have started OK.

Yet the web interface does not work, some users can send/recieve others can recieve but not send.

This was a zimbra server that was working, the upgrade log does not show me anything unusual, at least no errors.

Lucky for me this client is not athe angry type and they can afford a bit of down time, the main reason I am bothered is that this is the first time I have been caught out by an upgrade.

What other logs may tell me something useful?

What may casue the web interfcae not to work, I have no firewall or SE linux or other apache server running.
