Default Dynamic Distribution Groups

Is there a way to create dynamic distribution lists from zimbra? If not - can someone tell me where the distribution lists are held? are they held in ldap or mysql? Currently we use the commercial version of sendmail which allows for the creation of distribution lists by ldap searches.. the searches are run each evening and populate objects in our groups OU with members.

if this isnt something that is supported by zimbra, it is something that I can create using scripts and ldap modifies... I just need to know where to go for it. It is my understanding that postfix allowed for dynamic distribution groups. I have a TON of them in my current email system - and need these to carry over or zimbra may be a no-go.

They are stored in LDAP, but you want to avoid editing that directly at all costs.

For scripting, you could use zmprov to add/delete/modify distribution lists.

I think there may be a Bug open requesting this enhancement, also. Voting for it will help push it up the priority list.

I'd love to see something like this.

I started a bug a while ago for a vaguely related feature suggestion: Bug 31410 - Subscribe to remote VCard vcf as address list
Being able to subscribe to a remote address list (vCard file) would be amazing.
In the same way you can subscribe to a remote calendar (ics file).
That would be awesome for us as it would mean people would be able to send to our various customer lists held in our intranet database (apache/php/mysql) straight from Zimbra

Any idea when/if this will be implemented? Anybody have any ideas how I could do this currently?

Right now we use the commercial version of sendmail. In it I can create a distro called 'location1' for example. Once this is created I can create recipients based on an ldap query. Can I do something similar with zimbra with some scripting?
