Delete millions of messages in an inbox

While performing a hardware upgrade of one of our customers Zimbra systems, we have detected an Inbox with 3.8 million emails, and a size of 50GB.

What would be the most efficient method of deleting these emails?

Should I just delete the account, or can I delete messages at the OS level along with some SQL?

Suggestions and comments would be very appreciated.

This will empty the Inbox for the specified user

su - zimbra
zmmailbox -z -m account@domain emptyFolder /Inbox
