Default Group Accounts

Hi evryone,

I'm a new user of a ZCS, and i attempt to install it for my enterprise.

in my case i have five group of users (administration, HR, accounting, ...) those i will make on a separate groupe, but in zimbra Admin, i d'ont have a choice to make that.

I don't know if it's possible, or it's a Zimbra LDAP obligation to make all users on a same group.

I hope to integrate zimbra with liferay Portal, Alfresco and samba. And for that I need a group separation.

If some one can told me how, it will be welcome

Thanks

NB : Sorry for my poor english, i'll try to make it good

In zimbra, they've distribution list (DL) that is the same with group concept. For detail you can press the distribution list tab in admin Console or in the terminal, you type:
zmprov help list
as zimbra user

Default I need LDAP Groups

Hi again,

First Thanks for your reply delmate.

what i need is group (in LDAP terms ou=Administration, ou=accounting, ou=RH, and so on ...) the way i have a fully structured organization.

I'm a software developper in a university of sciences, and we have over 800 persons ho s need an mail account, a Directory Server account (I told you that i'm in project to couple zimbra with Liferay Portal), with a semantic distribution off rooles and departmental organization.

For that, I d ont think distribution list (DL), can solve my problem.

I have noticed a zimlets zimbra_posixaccount and zimbra_samba extensions in Zimbra official Wiki UNIX and Windows Accounts in Zimbra LDAP and Zimbra Admin UI 6.0 - Zimbra :: Wiki .

I'm not sure if it can help me, but's i m going to explore this way

I'm also interested about a single sign on mechanisme. I like to implement OpenSSO, but it seems dificult to integrate it with zimbra LDAP

let's go

As many others, i have a similar need:
- adding ldap groups for re-using zimbra ldap for other applications which requires groups

Did you succeed in your trials?

Default No way to define Groups

Hi,

I try to implements ldap groups in zimbra ldap, but i don't succeed. I don't know exactely why the zimbra LDAP is so authoritative.

But zimbra still my favorite mail server implementation.

at this time i'm exploring the external authentication mechanism, it semms necessary to create a same entry in my external LDAP, bind the zimbra domain to it, and using it as authentication repository.

But's the other user information (like adress, phone number etc) still retriving from zimbra LDAP. It means, that i must set user information tow time, first in zimbra LDAP, second in my external ldap (in my case Centos-ds).

If some one has an efficient idea it will be welcome.

Thanks

Default groups in atlassian crowd

Hello,

just some feedback on my use of groups.
I needed groups for some tools provided by atlassian (confluence - a wiki-, jira,...). They also sell crowd, a server providing openId identities, aggregating many different directories and adding additional informations (users and groups).
Crowd was the exact solution for my needs.
