At the moment I have set DAILY_TIME to 23:55 as from the time stamps it seems that zmdailyreport isn't written to open zimbra.log.1.bz2 at all.

Will amend the bug report accordingly.

Thanks for prompting me to less /opt/zimbra/libexec/zmdailyreport; I should have checked that myself sooner!

    All the best,
    Mark

The way I read the code it is setup to open .gz files with unzip, you might try a local fix of .bz files with bunzip2 in ../libexec/zmdailyreport

you might want to try to set a reasonable time in "DAILY_TIME".

the zmdailyreport attempts to open both the current zimbra.log, and zimbra.log.1 or zimbra.log.1.gz so it should be able to get the prior day.
Well, that's the problem then!!! Thanks!!!

SLES's log file rotation creates bz2 files, not gz files, so zmdailyreport never parses anything but /var/log/zimbra.log.

I've amended the bug report: Bug 43847 – Incorrect Log File Rotation Method Causing Missing Data in Daily Admin Report and Admin Console Stats Pages

But until Zimbra provides an official fix, we'll keep "DAILY_TIME" set to 23:55.

    All the best,
    Mark

Looks like you were posting this while I was making my previous post; I'm not keen in principle to start hacking the zmdailyreport script on our own.

Hopefully Zimbra will publish the script changes in the bug report so we can implement the "official" fix manually then.

Again, thanks so much for your suggestion!

    All the best,
    Mark

I would vote for real time stats; perhaps instead of parsing the logfiles the information was available via JMX we would be able to capture the stats to a central repository.
