rsync or cp -a ?
hope to get some advices on /opt/zimbra/ directory moving to a new storage system.
there's ~600G data there and we tried to run rsync (-aHKv) several days ago for testing, we found rsync consumed lots of memory and rsync took long time to build the file list, therefour we interrupt it before it really starts to work.
is "cp -a" a better way for large amount of data moving?
if not, what else? any advice on this?
It's going to take a long time to process 600GB of data whatever you use. Why don't you tar the file and copy it to your new subsystem then untar it? If you don't want to do that then rsync will do it for you but do consider the size of data storage (and number of files/directories) you're moving.
